ICIS Workshop Exemplifies Collaboration Success
ICIS conducted a geospatial workshop in Cranbrook on April 22. This event was graciously hosted by the Regional District of East Kootenay and organized by Jeff Nicolajsen (GIS Mapping Technician).
This workshop was of particular significance because the attendees represented every level of government in the region including Federal (Parks Canada), Provincial (Integrated Land Management Bureau, Ministry of Transport), Regional (RDEK), Local (8 local districts and municipalities) and First Nations (Ktunaxa Nation Council). This marked the first time in the history of ICIS that all these levels of government plus BC Assessment gathered around the same table to participate.
“ICIS conducts workshops as a top priority not only to introduce the value of ICIS and ICIS integrated data sets to interested parties but to facilitate a meeting of minds who may not interact in their normal course of business” states Barry Logan, ICIS General Manager.
The interaction and sharing of ideas and the uses of ICIS integrated cadastral data available to all ICIS members was of high value and all attendees left with additional information and technical insight. The additional value was realized in cementing new or enhancing existent relationships with peers in a unique setting.
ICIS is a non-profit society created to collaboratively share and integrate spatial data for the economic and social benefit of British Columbia.
