Have you heard of Next Generation 9-1-1?
Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) is the transition of 9-1-1 from analogue systems to IP-based systems. The change will enhance 9-1-1 services to create a faster, more resilient system allowing voice, data, photos, videos, and text messages to flow seamlessly from the public to 9-1-1.
NG9-1-1 will also change how and in what form location is used, enabling routing of emergency calls using GIS data and geoprocessing.
Address Data Aggregation
The Society is exploring the possibility of acting as a mid-level aggregator for address data in BC. We are conducting a short survey to gain insight into NG9-1-1 GIS readiness among Local Government members.
