Manager of Geomatics, City of Abbotsford
Eric Hoogenraad is the Manager of Geomatics for the City of Abbotsford in British Columbia. Abbotsford has a population of about 150,000 and covers approximately 150 square miles between the US border and the Fraser Valley, about 80 km east of Vancouver. Eric’s department is responsible for all the City GIS and mapping needs, the preparation of infrastructure design drawings, all land survey requirements and municipal infrastructure surveys.
Eric is a certified Technologist (AScT) with the ASTT, a certified Geomatics Specialist (CGS) with the Canadian Institute of Geomatics and a registered GIS Professional (GISP). Eric also teaches part time at UFV and serves on the Industry Advisory board for the University of Fraser Valley. He is involved with Strategic Planning at the City of Abbotsford and has a Management certificate from the Banff Centre for Management and Strategic Planning. Eric has been an international board member for GITA(Geospatial Technology and Information Association) since 2005 and an occasional contributor to various Geospatial Industry publications.
